Day 19 - Urban Adventure

Boom Island
River Mile 855
Today’s Distance - 35.5 miles
Total Distance - 494.4 miles

We had a wet morning of packing up. We had rain overnight. My Big Agnes tent has been a real champ. In all the rain we’ve had I have been high are dry the entire trip. My sleeping rig is really good too. I crawl into my bag and am asleep by 9:00pm and up at 6:00 am.

Jon and I both had a little pep in our paddle since we knew we were going to see our families today.  We did have a big portage today at Coon Rapids, a distance of 600 yards. Since I left my portage wheels at the St Cloud portage, Jon and I had to share his.

The coolest part of the day was rounding a bend and having the Minneapolis skyline emerge. That was a view I have never seen before, very cool!

We landed at Boom Island park. Another place I had yet to visit in the Twin Cities. Christina meet us, then went to La Dona brewery and got us some beer. It was fun sitting around in the shade drinking beer and swapping stories with a fresh audience. One that had not heard our schtick before.

Once home, it was laundry, drying out wet gear and shower. My lovely wife made me taquitos and rice for dinner. Man I sure do miss her cooking.
