Day 16 - Angels make the world go around

Two Rivers Camp / Bergstrom Angel Home
River Mile - 947
Todays  distance - 25.2 miles
Total distance - 394.5 miles

This morning I had the brilliant idea of loading my boat in camp and using my portage wheels to transport it to the boat landing that is 400 yards from our camp. Well, all I can say was it was not a great idea. First, the boat kept getting stuck in the thick brush on on the trail, then we I got with in 50 feet of the landing, there was a series of vertical posts to keep ATV traffic out. Turns out, my rig was 1/2 an inch too wide to make it through

This, it turns out was a bonus portage on what was already to be our toughest portage day to date. But the time I launched, I was already beat, and I still had 25 miles and 2 additional portages to go.

Our first portage at Little Falls, was challenging but was also make memorable by the old timers that called us over for coffee while we were hauling out boats to the put in. Daryl, Keith and Lorenzo were so friendly and helpful.

The second portage was a real challenge. Up, down over and trough at bunch of different obsticals . See bonus images for more detail

All day I had been in contact with Lee Bergstrom to coordinate connecting with him and his wife Patty for transport, food, shower, launder and lodging Lee and Patty are true River Angels and went above and beyond in helping this.
