Day 11 - Zero Day without the Zero

Palisade campground
River Mile - 1187.5
Days Milage - 19.1 miles
Total miles -  255.5 miles

We knew when we did the long day yesterday that we would have a pretty low Milage day today.   So, I look my time getting out of camp this morning.  I showered with Hot water which was awesome. I took my time packing and loading my boat, not pushing off until 8.45. I really took the pace very slow. It was nice knowing that no matter what I’d get to camp early.
Will it fit?

Yep!

I did my usual. Eat, paddle, drink coffee, paddle, pee, paddle (sorry for the TMI) morning. Sprinkled in I had a nice call with Dad in the morning and with Christina in the afternoon. I arrived at the campsite just before 2:00 pm. After getting camp set up we walked into downtown Palisade and had a yummy lunch at Gabby’s Eats & Treats. It was meatball Tuesday so I had to get that. For $6.99 I got 5 meatballs, mashed potatoes with gravy and corn. It really hit the spot.

While we were in town, we hit the convenience store and the liquor store. Jon has some work to do so he stayed at Gabby’s we’re they had AC and good wi-fi. Bill and I headed to the liquor store for beer, wine and Whiskey.

Back at camp I was able to totally empty my boat, dry out my damp stuff, of which there was a lot, and get my boat hatches dry and clean. I got the beer on ice and divided the whiskey into my 5, 12 oz plastic bottles. Then, once all that was done, i sat in my chair and immediately fell asleep.

So, tonight it’s beer brats on the fire, pickles, chips and beer. Yay for good food!

Normally a zero day means you don’t paddle and focus on cleanup and organizing. Today we had the benefit of a zero day, but still made 19.1 miles down the river!

Daily Learnings
  • Showering in the morning is better that after dinner. Why wash and then coat your self with big juice.
  • Just when you think you have boat loading down pat, you end up with an extra bag...Doh!
