Happy Fathers Day to all the fathers out there! I was blessed to be able to spend this fathers day with my dad. After racking my brain, as best as I can figure, the last time we spent a Fathers Day together was my first Fathers Day, June of 1990! We started the morning with coffee and breakfast, followed by Church. This was Dad and Bonnie's first time visiting Westwood Community Church. Our intent was to stop at Subway, pick up some subs and head over to Excelsior Commons for a picnic. Well, it was pretty windy so we decided to have lunch in our sun room back at the house.
After lunch we headed off to downtown Excelsior to board the Historic Lake Minnetonka steam boat the Minnehaha. The Minnehaha and her sister ships at one point were the main form of transportation around the lake. Once the automobile brought roads to the lake the ships eventually were sunk off Big Island in 65 feet of water. A local diver eventually raised the Minnehaha and the historic society restored it and restored it to its original condition. Our ride was an hour cruise around Big Island on a windy day, with fairly rough conditions.
The day was relaxing. Having Dad, Bonnie and all my family together was such a joy. Thanks to all of you for making this Fathers Day so special.
